Post Taking the plunge!
I think that I have taken leave of my senses. Contacted the RAF Reserves today and have a visit to my local Sqn next week to have a peek at life/work there there.
At the ripe age of 47 I'm thinking there is life in the old dog yet! Many more years hopefully.
It seems that you sign on for five years and commit to a 15 day camp, one weekend per month and allocated training days. Not bad as my employer allows a weeks extra leave under the SABRE scheme.
Watch this space.

Do keep us in the loop! I'm 52 but wouldn't mind it if they would take me.

Post Age range.
Mark,

With previous military experience you can join up until 55 years old. So you have a shot at being back in green again mate!

Will keep you posted with results of what happens.

Hi John will your lad be telling you what to do  or will you be the same rank, I know how it feals when I was with RE bridgeing regt at Hamel as the Med Sgt they sent a new Regt Medic in to work with me to learn the job, it turned out to be my son posted in from the other Bridgeing Regt RE, fun and games when his mother found out as he had not told her he was posted.

Update all,

Paperwork has gone in and I was impressed by the visit to the Sqn at Henlow. Very organised and the training I saw during it was first class.
Totally different ethos to the army regarding discipline and rank status. However more productive and better retention of personnel.
Hopefully will be doing fitness, medical and papersift in January.

Oh the joys of joining the RAF!
