Didn't Fred Beardsley bring his old Nottingham Forrest strip with him when he joined the club in 1895?

Have a good holiday in the Philipines but do take care of yourself.

We have now added a forum where members of all the other BAOR Field Ambulances can post memories if they wish to do so, thanks for the suggestion Pete, much appreciated.

Question for you Peter

What terrible thing did Arsenal do in the 1905/06 season?

Mark,

That question stumped me. I can only assume that 'terrible' must be a reference to something Arsenal inflicted on West Ham United. My first thoughts were WHU's worse defeat but I doubt it was that. My answer is a victory over West Ham United in their first meeting.

I shall try and put something on the site about 31 Fd Amb in the appropriate section.

Martin.

Thanks for your best wishes for my trip to the Philippines. My wife is a Filipina, hence the connection. I have been many times before. We go to Mindanao , a large Island in the South. I am unable to get any insurance, not because I had cancer, but because it is a place the Foreign Office advise against travel to. That invalidates any policy. That's not a problem for me any way.

Pete

I suppose that means our Squaddies in Irak and Afganistan are also not insured

Very close Pedro, it was the first time Arsenal knocked West Ham out of the FA cup.

Mark,
I thought it would be 'West Ham' related!!

Martin,

Are squaddies insured in Afghanistan and Iraq. Good question that. My son is in the RE's and he has been to Afghan and Iraq both twice in recent years. He had to take out his own insurance would you believe. This is a very big issue that the MoD have swept under the carpet and kept it from the public.

The only guy that did highlight it was Ross Kemp on his recent series with the Aglian Regiment in Afghanistan that ran on Sky 1 for about 6 weeks. I recall my son saying that it was a 'real' account of how things are and were.
